Cracked POTTING.....

FURST.....  Happy     MARDI GRAS   to Everybuddy...      Our mom and dad went to Mardi Gras in New Orleans once.....   MOM earned Beads....   AND they met some people who KNEW the KING of one of the parades they watched... and guess WHAT?????     These Super NICE FOLKS Invited them to come along to the      KING'S FEAST....  which is always held at the end of the Parade...    It was supposed to be ONLY fur the KING and Queen and their KREW...   butt mom and dad got to go... it was a ONCE IN A LIFETIME experience.       They say the Food and the Live Band were OUT OF THIS WORLD.     At the end... the KING gave Mom and Dad a HUGE HUGE bag of BEADS and stuffs that were left from the thingys that they throw to the crowds....    We STILL have MANY of them...      Mom says it is a TREASURED Memory !!!

NOW back to the Educational Adventure that Cussin Francine forced took us on.
We learned that there is a MUSEUM for Pottery that was made in our area...  and it is located Right near the town of Crooksville where our angel Uncle Doug was MAYOR...    AND guess WHAT.... our DAD used to WORK at that museum... he mowed the grass and Fixed thingy and stuffs like that.
One of the guys who was a Resident Potter... is STILL furends with Mom and Dad...    Butt that guy now lives in California.
Every year there is a POTTERY FESTIVAL in the towns of Crooksville and Roseville... and this year will be the 50th time fur the Festival.
We also learned that MOST of the Potteries have now CLOSED...    No more Weller  JB Owens   Roseville   Brush   McCoy and Hull.    JUST to Mention a FEW.

Here we are looking at some examples of thingys that are now being THROWN by the potters of TODAY.
THis is a Pretend Kitchen that shows that CERAMICS/POTTERY is STILL used fur.     Working with clay.... has been around fur THOUSANDS of years... it is even mentioned in the Bible.   One of the OLDEST Pawfessions.

We guess that this adventure wasn't TOO bad.    Butt Ernie STILL says that Cussin Francine is a CRACK POT.       BaaaaaaWaaaaah.

Happy Mardi Gras to you all. Sadly the area which are called The Potteries have the same problem. Stoke On Trent is nothing like it use to be and most have closed down as well. Such a shame. Have a terrific Tuesday.
Best wishes Molly

Happy Mardi Gras to you! I loved to read your posts! Sadly our potteries are closed too, that's sad I think. A handmade bowl would be much better than the common thingies we can buy in the stores.

What a splendid memory of Mardi Gras to dine at the biggest celebration!

My Mom left me some lovely old Hull and also Roseville pots. Wish there were more, the price is good on them today. (No, I am not selling!)

Cheers and hugs,

Guess what boys, it was at that very Museum, way back in 2005 that my Mum first met Your Mom. My Mum even got to be a judge of the baby section at the Pottery thingy in the Park, then your Mom bought me a HUGE lemon drink that had a whole lemon it it. Was such a happy time for my Mom, she even got to meet your smooth skin Dashies before they crossed the bridge. Her first visit to your "HILL".

That looks like such a fun place to check out! In the town near where we live there is a small pottery place, and in NJ there is a small artist's village/school of craft there. Momma knows of these places, but hasn't ever checked them out for herself. Maybe this summer...
