One of the times when Sarge's Dad.. and Ours went fishing they found this guy and brought him back fur everybuddy to see.
This is a Woods turtle... we put him on the picnic table so that you could see him really good.. HE was a GUY turtle. You can tell beclaws Guy turtles of THIS TYPE have BROWN Eyes and their shells are Rounded in the back where their tails are. Girrrrl Woods turtles have Red Eyes and their shells are Flat above their tails. ( My MOM had to tell us this stuffs... she is just FULL of
This is ME showing Ernie about the turtle guy.
I had to show him that BOTH ends are interesting to sniff.
Then I told him that we had to put the turtle BACK into the woods so that it could continue its LONG LIFE. Ernie was wanting to KEEP him as a Furend and bring him to our hill to live... butt I said NO he needs to stay THERE where his OWN furends were. So then we told him it was nice to meet and fur him to go on his Pokey way.
Now THIS is NOT the turtle that we had at our Vacation Cabinet/Cottage Cheese place. NO this one lives in a NATURE Center that was in the Park. See what they like to eat? Tomatoes and Lettuce... and in the Wild they eat lots of other veggie type stuffs.
And THESE TWO guys were also in the Nature center... and they are WATER turtles. Their water was so clean and clear that you really can hardly tell in the picture BUTT they are actually SWIMMING in the water that was about 18 inches deep.
Turtles may be Slow and Pokey... butt they ARE cool drool. Hope you enjoyed them.

How cool! My doggies wouldnt just be nice and sniff like you though, hehehe!
Imagine my embarrassment that this whole time I have been calling the girl turtles DUDE'S. call out to them and sniff them. No wonder they just shoot right into their shells when I bark out at them and try to sniff them. I am afraid I have a lot of apologizing to do to some turtle girls, I guess the boys too cuz I have been calling them little misses.
Blessings,
Goose

Great post guys. SHE had a walk down memory land as SHE remembers all the box turtles SHE found each summer.....15 at once in the sandbox at once was the record.
Of course, they were all set free after a few days.

Yes, we did enjoy visiting with your turtles!
That is one nice looking turtle you got there. Those are the kind the mom here used to find as a kid and would keep as a pet then let them go in a pond in the fall so they could get ready for winter. Don't you think it is neat the way their little head and feet fold up into their house?
I try to eat turtles. Those are cute!
Nola
