Sad Day.....

This is a Sad Day.....   Today we took DOWN the Humming Bird Feeders...  to get them to start thinking about heading back SOUTH fur the LONG COLD DARK WINTER...
We are supposed to STOP Feeding them on Sept. 1st...

THIS year we ended up with a Total of 12 hummers...    We all liked watching them and HEARING them...   Mom was going through TWO or MORE QUARTS of hummer liquid EVERY DAY... It kept her Hopping to keep them CLEAN and FILLED.     We have 2 quart size feeders and 6 two cup size.
Good BYE little fellas...   We will be SOOOOO Happy to see you in the SPRING.      I hope you ALL come back.
PeeS...  We are on our way to SARGE's House Today...    Since MADI (the Diva) has decided to RUN fur MAYOR...   I have asked her to be in Charge of Blogville while I am away... Sort of a PRACTICE Session.   SO if you need somethingy...  just go to HER OFFICE .     Have a SUPER SAFE and FUN   Labor Day Weekend.

Too sad that your hummingbird friends are leaving you for the winter but they'll be sure to look you up and hang out with you in the spring & summer! I bet they come back to also see you and Ernie and I bet they talk about you all winter long! Lots of fun stories to swap, I'm sure! LOL

We don't take our feeders down until they have left. (Middle or end of Sept.) Beth found out that it is important to leave them up as some of them aren't strong enough to make the trip and need it to get stronger. Leaving them up don't make them stay longer -- they know when to go -- some just aren't ready yet.... That's just what we do -- I know some take them down on Labor Day here too....we all do what we feel is best....Have a fun weekend, my friends! Enjoy the Blue Moon!

Our hummers are still around and like Remington we keep our feeders up until they are gone. I will be sad to have them leave, although I won't miss the kamakazie attacks while out in the yard.

That is very responsible of you guys to help the birdies on their way like that. I no is as nice of a dog; I would keep them around so I could eat them. Though usually that no ever happens.

Oh, today I was reading your blog on Mama's mobiles, and it appeared correct-sized to me (just like my legs!) I is very happy to has on-the-go access to all your adventurings.

Love,
Reuben

They will leave on time even if you leave the feeders up. We leave ours up and one day they just stop coming. They go into a feeding frenzy just before they leave to help them with their journey.

Murphy & Stanley

I love that black hummingbird with the red neck, so pretty!

My mom used to feed the hummingbirds, but I don't think she did it with any regularity this summer.

Did a 2 part blog on having Amanda from 91 to 98. Come when you can please.

Yep we hate to say good bye to the humming birds. Yesterday three were just sitting on the rail at our back porch waiting for food.
Thanks for being a friend

It's the first here! The first day of Spring. Of course no one told the weather but it's going to be sunny and it's SATURDAY....time for our river morning.

Sad to see the little hummers go. SHE is usually there in winter so misses the little guys.
