Yesterday at 6:00 AM we had a HUGE Storm and there was One HORRID Crash of thunder... we KNEW it was REALLY CLOSE... butt did NOT know it had hit our neighbor's house...In FACT... nobuddy knew. This is the Blue house.. Across the street 4 houses UP... the other way from our POND... The people didn't know it had hit their house either... until 3:00 PM when Smoke started coming out of the gables....
Fire Dept. was Called.... and they put our MOM to work... More on that in 87 seconds...
That White Mail Box is OURS... the people are Neighbors...
There were 3 Fire Trucks... two pumping water... and ONE... had to come up to get more water FROM OUR POND.... and they didn't have enough people to Direct the TRAFFIC....
SO...... MOM had to stand at the Corner of Maple Ln Dr. and Lakeview... and keep peeps from Driving down along OUR POND... where the Filling truck was....
They gave her a VEST and Orange Cones...
Between Cars.... she had somebuddy Standing in the Yard Next to OURS... to go tell our Dad to get bottles of Water fur the HOT Fire Fighters.... He bagged up a BUNCH of bottles.. and sent bottles to MOM... and she Delivered some to The Two, at the POND PUMPING TRUCK...
It was Really HOT and Sunny and the Fire Fighters were all Thirsty...
WE don't much like showing mom's picture on here... butt this was somethingy... DIFFERENT.
Our mom was doing her pawt to HELP a NEIGHBOR... and to Help our Beloved Furst Responders... They never get enough HELP or HONOR.... Our Pawlice, and Military, and Emergency and Fire Depts. THOSE folks are all TRUE SUPER HEROS. They DESERVE to have all the help and consideration that can Pawsibly be HEAPED UPON THEM by Appreciative Citizens. THEY are our Finest... Our Public Servants... They do SO much fur SO Many...
Sometimes you just gotta do the Right THINGY... and remind everybuddy that we ALL need to do our Public Service....
One of the On Lookers.... took these pictures of her...
She was SMILING...... beclaws.... the Fire Guys had just told her .... the FIRE WAS OUT and the HOUSE was NOT BADLY DAMAGED... there was only Smoke Damage...
We are all Sad that Lightning Struck their house... but HAPPY That it was SAVED.
All THANKS to the Quick Response and Fine Training of our VOLUNTEER Fire Department... If you see a PUBLIC SERVANT... AKA... FIRST RESPONDER .... tell him or her
THANKS!
THANK GOODNESS..... the Fire Guys took the Vest Back... it wasn't a good look fur our mom. Just Sayin.

you have the bestest mama... and the bestest dad... efurrybuddy should write on its wishlist for santa paws to get such neighbors like you... that was pawsome that your pawrents helped the firefighters!
Congrats to your mom to being promoted to assistant volunteer firefighter! We are so glad that the house wasn't seriously damaged. Lady's childhood home was hit once, but no fire fortunately.
While we think your mom is pawsome, you guys better be careful, she may be trying to take the blog over as she has shown up on 2 posts in a row:)
That is very scary. We had a house get hit by lightening down the street once too, and it only had minor damage because the fire dept was there so quickly. So don't you have fire hydrants for the water? Our fire guys just hook up their hoses to our peemail posts, aka hydrants, and get plenty of water that way, even in the winter when it is -20 out.
Glad everyone is safe and your mom lended a paw!
It's sure is nice to have a neighbor like your mom & dad too.
One that brings food to new families and now directs traffic.
Runs a blog and looks good in a yellow vest.
Can she run for U.S. President, we need somebody asap!
xo Astro
We think your Mom looks rather striking in her vest! Give your Mom a bunch of smooches for being such an excellent neighbor and for helping the firefighters do their job!

And we agree that we all need to do our part to help each other and honor those who give their lives every day to protect us all!
FnE can you hear us clapping? What a wonderful Public Servant your mom is. I bet you two taught her all she knows. My goodness that was so scary and that fire smoldered for a very long time. Whew. Thank goodness it was not in the middle of the night.
Hugs and Praise for all the Firefighters and volunteers

Your mom is a super traffic director. Looking good in that vest. Move over snowfreaks, I think you might just have to make up Christmas Cards with that picture of her on it and send that picture out during the howlidays. We give her 8 paws up fur her good citizenship duty of helping someone in need.
Appawse, Appawse!!!! Your beautiful Mama is such a great helper and wonderful neighbor! We bet those firefighters were very thankful!! We know you two must be so very proud of her!!

OMD! OMD! OMD! Your mom got to help the firefighters by keeping the path clear to the pond so they could get water. AND your dad did a good deed by bringing water for the firefighters! OMD! YOUR MOM was part of those who helped the neighbor when they REALLY, REALLY needed it, to save their house! OMD! We are VERY impressed. Now, do NOT show this post to our mom cuz she would be VERY jelly. It was always her dream to direct traffic! Yes, it is true that it is on her bucket list. And your mom got to wear a vest and everything. Oh, our mom would be jelly fur sure BUTT we are proud your mom get in there to help. Thank goodness the damage was not worse and your mom was part of the hero team!

How scary for your neighbor in the blue house! We're happy that there was no major damage. We are proud to know your mom. That was so kind of her to help AND make sure the firefighters weren't thirsty. *ear licks* Noodle
Frankie, your Mom is such a star, as are all the firefighters and other first responders. What a wonderful job they do. And what a relief that the fire did not spread and do too much damage, and no-one was hurt.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
PS Gail and I loved seeing those pics of your Mom and think she looks most distinguished in her hi-vis jacket.
We're so sorry to hear about the lightning strike, but "just smoke damage" is excellent news! Hooray to the first-responders AND to your mom and the other citizens who pitched in to help! THAT is a wonderful community!!!
Cammie!
WOW! That was exciting! We know you guys would have been barking encouragement and snoopervising!.. We think this makes your mom a first responder, too! Fires are horrible!
And now she should be eligible for a pension for that work.
So sorry about the fire and smoke damage, but your Mom was a hero and a great helper for the Fire Dept. We are sure they very much appreciated her help AND the cold water. Hope the next storm treats your area much better.
Woos - Ciara and Lightning
How scary for your neighbors but thank doG to your mom for steppin' up to the plate! We are so happy to hear that the fire wasn't worse than it was.
I love that Mom pitched right in and helped out. That is what seems to be lacking in this world, a sense of community. Good job mom!
We think you mom looks very spiffy in your vest. You should be very proud to have a momma that will pitch in to help in an emergency situation. Maybe your mom will join the fire department now to help out with traffic control.
Your mom rocks that safety vest! you must be so proud of her!!!
We are glad the damage was not severe
hugs
Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel
What an exciting day! We hope no one was hurt. Good for your Mom helping out the firemen!
Your mom is very smart and brave to be able to direct traffic for the firefighters. My mom would've had cars crashing into each other and driving up on the sidewalks. Thank goodness the house wasn't badly damaged. Now the neighbors will get to buy some new stuff with their insurance money.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
