Sunday

Today is Father's Day....   and we want to say we Love Our DAD...     and we say HAPPY FATHER's Day to ALL the DADs Out there...
THIS is what WE gotted to give OUR DAD fur his Special Day.

*********-------------------------------------**************-----------------------------------*********

Those of us fortunate to attend Blogville's AWESOME Retreat....(BAR) ...   were to take a small somethingy that would represent the area where we live..    Ernie and I took some thingys from Titusville, Pencil Vane E Ah...  where the FURST EVER Successful Oil Well was drilled by a gentleman named DRAKE.
There was a Drawing fur NUMBERS that were put on the thingys that we all brought.   WE got #9 and that was fur what DORY and ARTY and their mama had brought fur the exchange...
And Boy Howdy did they ever have it Jammed FULL of super California thingys...    Wanna See?

THE BAG was even all decorated with California thingys...  and INSIDE... OMD   a Jar of really delicious Mustard and Dill Sauce... which Mom opened Immediately... so THEY could have it on some HAM LOAF that she baked up.
And you KNOW how much Dory and Crew love FLOWERS...  they brought SEEDS for the Wild Flowers that are Native to California.. and Also fur California's STATE FLOWER.. the Orange Poppy.      AND.....  do you see that TUBE thingy?    You will NOT believe what is in THERE...
It is  a      REAL...   West Coast REDWOOD TREE...  the Giant Sequoia...   OMD WE HAVE A REAL REDWOOD TREE...    Now of course it is a BABY one...   butt we are gonna Tend to it very much carefully and HOPE that we can keep it going and GROWING in the COLD during the winter.   WE will put it in a PLANTER and Bring it INSIDE when it gets cold in October...

There are Instructions for taking GOOD care of it...
Now MOM says that the old Saying is....  NEVER Ever   THANK somebuddy when they give you a type of Plant...  or it WON'T Live and Grow...    SO....   we won't actually say THANK YOU Dory Arty and Mama...     BUTT we WILL Say that we Truly Appreciate the ENTIRE bag of goodies... and we LOVE them.

that's true, it brings bad luck when you say thank you for plants... but a hug is allowed :o) I can't wait to see this giant tree in your garden next to the milkbone bushes! Happy Fathers Day to your bestest Daddy!

Happy Father's Day to your Dog Dad.

We've never heard that story about thanking someone for the plants. Interesting!

Crikey .... You must have a BIG house. Don't those redwoods grow HUGE. You might have to cut a hole in your roof if you are going to bring it inside each winter. That was a very nice idea to have an exchange like that. Happy Fathers' day to your Dad.

You better watch that tree carefully. Some neighbor might cut it down and make a deck out of it.

We LOVE that flag you got for your dad! That is really beautiful!
We love all the California things - what a fun thing to do! We've never heard of not thanking someone for plants. That could explain some of the "fails" in our gardens, though, as Mom is big into please/thank you type of stuff.
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher

That is a super present for your Dad. Happy Fathers Day to him!
As we live in 'Europe's Oil Capital' we think it would be most exciting to have a present from Titusville. Of course all the presents from California are very special too - but we would expect nothing less from Dory and Arty and their clever, creative and generous Mama.
Toodle pip!

That's fantastic stuffs. And we know whoever got YOUR bag would love it, because SHE has that stuff and SHE loves it! Did you include a rock of Cooperstown? We have ours next to our little Ernie (stuffie).

Growing a redwood would be hard, we think. Good Luck.

We hope your Dad had the best Father's Day ever!! We bet he loved his new flag, it is gorgeous!!

We have faith that any pups that can grow such wonderful milk bone bushes will have no problem growing a whole forest of Sequoia trees in Pennsylvania!!
Smileys!

PS: even not thanking people for plants doesn't help: I still tend to get them killed...
