A Family thingy....

WE never got to know Mom's Brother... Doug beclaws he went to the Bridge before we were born... Butt we DO know some thingys about him.     Furst he taught school (like mom did) fur like 87 years..    BUTT he was also involved in lots of stuffs around the town were mom and he were raised.   He even became MAYOR (which might be where I took that pawlitical thingy from, myself).
When the town got a New set of school buildings...  the OLD High School GYM was SAVED Pawtly due to Uncle Doug's efforts...  and it became a Recreation Center for the town.
Lots of thingys go on there... like rock wall climbing... archery...  Power walking... dance recitals...PAWTIES of All sorts... Benefits fur those who need HELP...  and even DANCES.
So a few years ago...  some folks decided to give the Recreation Center a New Name...   The CANNON     Family Recreation Center...     Beclaws his last name was Cannon..
HERE is a sign...      that directs peeps to the "REC" center as is it commonly called.

This is the building.... it doesn't look very big... butt trust us.... it is kinda  HOOGE...  it is down a hill from where the sign is located...
At the TOP of the hill is the Pawlice station and the City Adminstration building which were STARTing to be build just before Uncle Doug went to the bridge...
THIS is a picture of the completed Building...   the Pawlice station is in the Basement...of this building...
We just thought you might get a kick outta seeing a bit of our Family History.

Frankie, that is a most interesting slice of family history. For sure your Uncle Doug must have been a wonderful teacher and mayor, and how great that he is still remembered with a building where people can do lots of fun stuff.

Hey Mamaw!
Wow, that's so pawesome! I've heard Mom talk about Uncle Doug and I'm sure that's where Frankie got his mayor-dom from. BOL I heard all about the Pottery Festival and even the park downtown that he helped build. What a cool and unique peep he was. Thanks for the tour and the memories for Mom. :)

Your uncle was certainly community-oriented to create a nice recreation center. This is the kind of place kids can go to have good fun and stay out of trouble.

Cheers!

Very impressive. You became Mayor and Sarge got his police background from BOTH sides of his family.....you know, the sign next to your FAMOUS Uncle showing the station.

We thinks it looks like a wonderful community. We hope you've left some pee-mail around to tell other dogs about your Uncle Doug!

Wowza Mr Frankie. What a hard working and well loved man your Uncle Doug must have been. You must all feel PROUD every time you walk past the Rec hall and see his sign. Thanks for sharing your family connection with your town. We like the look of your place. Can you tell us how many people live in your town? We live in a small town (1500 people). No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

Hi Frankie & Ernie
thank you for sharing these pics brought back many happy memories for me, visiting you in your town and on your "HILL" I have been inside that rec centre and I know it is huge, I had to help clean it for the function I was helping with. (Pottery Queen Lucheon)
