Lorenza says she misses everybuddy and that she is gonna be back to blogging SOON. WHEW.... THAT is grrrreat news... HURRY Lorenza... WE MISS YOU!
OKAY.... so the grapes are gettin RIPE on my hill and I had my mom and dad get SOME of them picked... fur turning into JELLY... Now you all KNOW that WE are not supposed to have Grapes so I just do all this work.. only fur my DAD.
HERE is HOW you do this work. FURST you pick the grapes.. no pics of that beclaws it might have gotten PURPLE stuffs on the flasher beast... (as if WE would care about THAT).
THEN they gotta have 3 baffs and a SOAK. Bet you are glad YOU aren't a grape, aren't you. I know I am!!
NEXT they gotta be PULLED OFF... of their BONES !!
You read that RIGHT... pulled RIGHT OFF THEIR BONES. THIS is a picture of the bone pile... BEFORE it all got taken to the GARDEN to be Buried... fur furtilizing the soil fur NEXT YEAR... Disgusting aren't they?
NOTHING like the BONES we LOVE to gnaw!!
After that... they go into a POT and get SMASHED up and cookered fur a bit... THEN the hot ... starting to smell goooood grapes go into this thingy and my mom Rolls that Baseball bat looking thingy around and around and around and around and JUICE goes out the holes and the ucky insides and seeds and skins stay in the THINGY. When all that is done... the entire UCK Mess goes out with the Grape Bones... beclaws they help make the soil rich too... butt I don't know how that works... I just know that my mom takes LOTS of stuffs out there, including the Bones from makin COFFEE. Peeps... Don't know about em.
THIS is a CLOSE UP of the SMASHED and cookered a little bit grapes BEFORE they go into the THINGY... Mom uses that Smasher tool to do this step.
OK,,, now the next steps are VERY HOT and STICKY and kinda SCARY... so I am gonna SKIP showing you a pic of it... Butt mom puts the Bashed out Juice on the stove and it gets SUPER HOT and she puts some stuffs in there to make the JUICE go POOF and become Jelly.. she also puts in a BUNCH of sugar.. and then she puts the HOT stuffs in HOT jars (She does somethingy like TUTORING AND WhoWhoectomy stuffs to them furst though.... SEE, I told you that was not a STEP you would want to SEE) THEN she puts the lids on and the jars go in this BOILING HOT thingy on the stove... and in like 87 seconds or so... she TAKES them out... with ANOTHER special thingy that keeps her from getting boiled.
Would you just LOOK at all that HOT STEAM and stuffs...
These are the pictures of the FURST batch that was made. You gotta do like 8 or so jars full at a time. It took like FUREVER to get it ALL made. BUTT my dad is a Happy Guy now. ESP. since he KNOWS that NEXT we will be Picking MORE Grapes... to make into JUICE... fur drinkin ALL WINTER LONG...
Butt that is for TOMORROW...
Well now Grape Jelly... THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE, SON.
PeeS.....have you been to the CROSSED PAWS AUCTION SITE... LATELY??? There have been about 87 NEW thingys put up fur you to bid on!! You know it ENDS on the 28th..
Now... fur those of you who have PRE-REGISTERED fur my PAWlitical Science (Pawly Sigh) class. I have grrrreat news fur you... We are gonna have SNACKS at Break Time!!
THINK... CHICKEN STEW !!!! I went with that beclaws I know Kitties like chicken too... and I am HOPING that some Cats will sign up!!!!
One more thingy... as of the writing of this post... SALLY ANN and ANDY have NOT emailed me...... about the class they said they wanted to teach. I left TWO comments on their blog and the OTHER NOTE on here. So I guess they have changed their minds and don't want to teach somethingy after all. I really did TRY to get them though. SORRY FurFolks. Maybe NEXT YEAR.

The little bipeds here LOVE grapes, they would do a great job pulling those grapes off thier bones, but there wouldn't be much left for jelly after they got done snacking. Your Mom is so good to do all that work, bet that jam is delicious.
We are very much behind in joining in on all the activities. Life gets very busy with a little guy in the house. We will have to go back and figure out which ones we can do.
We had chatted with Lorenza's mom a few weeks ago and heard much the same report. It is good to know that things are continuing to improve there. Thanks for the Pupdate.

My Vickie says homemade grape jam and jellie is the BEST. It sure looks good.
Too bad My Vickie is not allowed to cook anymore.
I guess we will have to settle for store bought stuff.

My concord grapes ~ my peep loves concord grapes ~ she makes concord grape pie. We won the Warren and Hamilton County Fairs with her grape pie. You got to save some grapes for pies! Yum Yum

The grape jelly looks pawsome. Mommy was very impressed and says she needs one of those thingys for the muscadines. Since we don't have one Mommy is taking them to her friend at the library so she can make jelly out of them and they don't go to waste.
Oh we all wants to sign up even us cats for your pawly sigh class, do we needs to do anything.
Thanks, Mayor Frankie, for checking
on Lorenza. She is our sweetheart and we all love her. I hope she is back soonest.
You are working hard this summer, and your grape jelly looks beautiful.
Kisses,
Stella
Our Granma in Virginia used to make grape jelly; but we never met her. So it gave HER some warm memories.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
You're right we wouldn't like to be grapes.
Yum! I'm lazy so I prefer to go to the store and buy a jar of jelly. It doesn't taste nearly as good as the homemade stuff though!
My boys are hoping you'll have biscuits with that chicken stew and they'll get to share in some of that grape jelly! I had to remind them that grapes aren't good for them and they're disappointed but that's ok, I'll just pack another little treat for them.
Now I keep hearing that "Peanut Butter and Jelly" song in my head! Mom says when she was very little, she helped her grandma make grape jelly, but we don't have any grapes here, so we're stuck buying it at the farmer's market!
Bunny
