PSA Re: Iverhartmax

I have had this Sticky Note on my mom's desk thingy for about 87 days... I am finally getting around to telling you what I learned about this.
IverhartMax is a GENERIC form of Heartworm medicine... that one of our furends talked about early this spring. In that post they told us that IverhartMax was WAAAAY cheaper than Heartguard, for example. Now My mom and I are both up for saving green papers... when it is GOOOD and when it is SMART...

I talked to my VET.. Dr. HUNKY/Husty and this is what he said:
I will NOT recommend it. I will... If you and your mom INSIST give you a script for it... You WILL save some BUTT you will NOT get ANY financial help IF Frankie would ever happen to have heartworm. AND... that does DOES DOES happen... even if you take your pill EVERY SINGLE MONTH.. like the goood boy you are. ONCE IN A WHILE... DAWGS GET SICKIE AND .... THROW UP.... after they take their pill.... If that happens and you get stung by a mosquito that carries heartworm... you could get them.
NOW HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING....
IF your VET will show that you have taken HEARTGUARD Every single month for at least one full year, AND you DO develop heartworm... HEARTGUARD will pay a good portion of the treatment cost for getting RID of the heartworms. OK??? Following me so far???
IverheartMax... will NOT pay a single cent.. in this situation.
SOOOOOOO I say... it is better to pay a little More NOW and avoid the Risk.
There now... I can get rid of this... very DUSTY note.

PeeS.... If you have blogging questions that you would like answered (except for the cat crap stuffs from Yesterday)... email me frankiefurter(AT)wildblue(DOT)net

PeePeeS.... After yesterday... I am SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING A SWITCH TO WordPress. Soooooo maybe we should all discuss the pro and cons of switching.

Morning Frankie
We use Revolution for heartworms. It is really expensive. $120 for 6 months.($240 for 2 dogs). Mom buys the meds from here. It is a big savings. http://www.canadavet.com. They will deliver right to your door.

Pees - Does your vet get paid to sell & promote Heartguard?

We wonder about WordPress too.

We take Interceptor for our heartworm medication, but we don't know about the financial aid. Good point for Mom to check out.

Happy weekend.

Wish the Frontline people could say the same about getting tick cooties even when you use your frontline every month. Ick!

Sorry about the blogger problems. Yuh, it has been grouchy all week long.

Thank you for that information, Frankie. We'll keep it in mind. That reminds me. I think we're due for our Heartguard pills. Must remind the Moms.

As far as changing to Wordpress - Blog Mom has used it. It's good, but if you take the free option you have less control over appearance and other things than you do on Blogger. The paid option gives you control over the CSS, but still less than you can have with Blogger. We think it's pretty much a trade-off. Also, Blogger is considering new upgrades - and taking suggestions. Of course it'll probably be a long time before any of that is implemented. Proably at least 7 doggy years, we'd guess.

lotsa licks, Lola

from the mom - thank you Mr. Frankie Furter for that very timely bit of info. I happened to read it BEFORE Shasta'n me went to the vet this morning to get her nails trimmed up before her first therapy visit on Monday. He had not heard that before as I explained it to him and he appreciated the news. I also picked up some Heartgard - the other was not that much cheaper anyway and I would rather have the guarantee of getting help with the cost of heartworm treatment if ever needed (which I hope I don't).

By the way, Shasta b-day party will be later on and there will be pics - wish you could stop by for some Lamb loaf and a cake with bananas, pumpkin and blueberries. I will be blogging about either later today or tomorrow.

I'm on Wordpress and have had very little trouble with it. I do pay for various upgrades including video hosting, custom CSS, and extra storage to hold all those videos.

I've never heard of Iverhartmax but thank you for passing along the information. Good to know!

I agree with your mom, it's most definitely a good idea to pay a little more up front and get help should you still get heartworm. Which hopefully won't ever happen. Better to be safe than sorry though!

Wow, your mom was taking a LOT of credits for one semester! Most of the classes here are only 3 or 4 credits.

Wow great PSA! Thanks for the info.

My mom person has tried Wordpress & she personally didn't like it. She doesn't think it's as user friendly as Blogger & they have some of the same problems. We'll be interested to know what you decide.

Ah, Frankie. I missed you. Thanks for your concern while I was...um...occupied. I see that Blogger has been mean to you. I will see what I can do.

Well I'm not exactly sure about the Iverhart thing. I am on Iverhart and haven't had a single problem..i have had the pukies before, but if I were to get heartworms then the vet guarantees it and gives FREE treatment. I just suppose this is the vet's decision and not the company's. The other dogs in the family have been on Iverhart for years (almost 9 yrs for one) and there has never been a problem. So with the vet guarantee and the price, my mom is pretty confident in the medicine. Plus the vet that we go to isn't like some of those evil vets that try to push products and don't really care about the pet as much as the money. He wouldnt lie to us as he is awesome. But just to be on the safe side, my mom will look into it. Thx.

We use Wordpress, but that is as much because we wrote the website first many years ago and then added a blog at one point. Since we already had a host, Wordpress made sense. And note that we actually use Wordpress (wordpress.org), not the online version of Wordpress that works much like Blogger.
