Tornado Damage

Our little county made the National News on Friday Morning. Not for anything good, unfortunately. It was certainly not the magnitude of Katrina. No one even had to be admitted to a hospital. The tornadoes, and there were MORE than One, that ripped through here caused a ENOUGH misery. I am sooooo lucky, even though the electric was off... we have a grrrreat neighbor who brought us a generator until we could get ours up and running. We didn't have any DAMAGE and we didn't lose any of our frozen foods. I AM ONE LUCKY DAWG.

This house USED to have a Roof... and those two white pillars... used to hold up a grand Porch Roof. Look at the twisted and broken tree tops. This family USED to have a Christmas Tree Farm.. with over 200 trees that were READY to be cut for this season.. THEY are all gone Just like the Roof. We Know these folks. They are related to us in fact.
More of what Used to be the beautiful hillside behind their house. Now this is a very special house...
It is Quite Old butt if you look behind it here... you will see an even older structure. It was the ORIGINAL HOME. AND It has a super history to it.

Here, we call this little half mile straight stretch... Milligan. And where the white Barn(near the bottom of this post) used to be... Milligan's Bend because the road curves right beyond where the barn used to be.

This sign.... USED to be right along the highway (St. Rt. 93). And people stop in their driveway to take pictures of this sign...
This picture was taken by my mom LAST AUGUST... THANK DOGNESS.
As you can see, that was a beautiful sunny blue sky kinda day.

Who would have ever thought that TWO Weather Related thingys would ever have happened in this tiny little yard??? On Feb. 10,1899... Ohio's Colderst Ever Temp. was recorded. It was MINUS 39 Degrees that day. The man who did the recording for the National Weather Service... lived in the Old homestead up until he built the Gray House in 1901.
Why would I want to show you this marker for Ohio's IceBox when I should be talking about Thursdays Tornado Damage??? Well, I am sorry to say that all that is left of this sign is the Post. Ironic isn't it??? The same exact yard.
Basket collectors... note that Longaberger Corp. helped pay for the sign eight years ago.
From that Sign Post it is 1.3 miles south to.... Crooksville's Elem, Jr. & Sr. High school buildings... and they were not touched.
I will show you a couple more pics tomorrow and then tell you that Sept.16,2010 set an all time record in Ohio.

These are some of our HEROS... they came from as far away as Michigan Indiana and Virginia. On this one stretch of road there were 39 trucks waiting safe passage UP that HILL.. to where the damaged Electric Sub Station is located. THIS is the Valley floor.

This is the Valley.. and this is what is left of a barn that has stood there for over 60 years.

I know it is hard to tell but that is a very steep hill. It is NOT as high as the hill that I live on... butt... if you were to FLY to the East over one more of these Valley and hill sets... You would come to my house. As the crow flies from this spot to my house is 1.5 miles. To Drive it... on our crooked hilly twisty turny road.. it is 6 miles. TORNADOES... Don't use the Roads.. I am ONE VERY VERY LUCKY DAWG!!! I am on the 3rd highest point in Perry County.

THIS barn Used to be about 90 yards from where it landed.

As our furend likes to say, "Chicken one day, Feathers the next."
