Now THIS is a series of pictures that my mom took of a bottle kiln that has been re-located from an abandoned dinner ware factory that was located in East Liverpool.
You can see it from the Highway.. with is up over the hill.
This entire region of Ohio was World Famous fur the VARIOUS ceramic products that were produced here.
From Dinner ware to bricks to Roofing Tiles to and on back to the very furst when Stoneware and red ware were produced here.
There are TWO museums in Ohio devoted Just to our Ceramics. One is in East LiverPool and the OTHER is just 10 miles from my house... between Crooksville and Roseville. MY section of Ohio was SOOOOO famous (Owens, Weller, Roseville,Hull, McCoy, Brush to name a FEW of the local potteries) fur our Pottery/Ceramics that THIS VERY WEEKEND is the 48th annual Crooksville-Roseville Pottery festival!!! It is in Roseville this year. My mom and dad and I stopped in Yesterday... and guess what my dad did?????? He bought a $1.00 ticket and got four tries to get a Washer into a Flower Pot.. He had to get 3 in and he would win a Bird Bath!! He tossed the first THREE and got them ALL in. My mom doesn't call him Ol' Sure Shot fur nothin. I'll try to show you a Pic of the new Bird Bath in a day or so. hehehe Mom didn't marry him fur his Money... you know. BaaaaWaaaah!!
My dad worked in a factory that made VERY high fired refractories... He was on the Kiln Crew and Every day of the year.. it was 140 degrees F. in the section he worked in.
Why did I say this was fur George the Lad you ask???? Well, he once put in a pic of a Bottle Kiln that he saw on one of his SUPER GRRRREAT Walkies!!
