WARNING: This post is kind of bloody and yucky. After yesterday's Robin PSA, I guess you could say that...my blog has gone to the birds...If you don't want to see my Cooper's Hawk killing a grackle you should stop reading right HERE!!!!!I scrolled down so no one had to see it if they didn't want to. I have 7 bird feeders. They each hold 5#'s of food. We go through hundreds of pounds of cracked corn and sunflower seeds. We also keep suet feeders up. This is a Cooper's Hawk butt I also have a pair of Red Tailed Hawks. They have never made a kill close enough to the house for pictures.
The hawk guarded its kill by constantly checking for danger. When this was going on... there wasn't another single bird to be seen.

This happened the morning that all of this snow started falling. It was right under the window and below two of my feeders.

Look at that beautiful face and those deadly talons!!! The actual kill took only seconds.

Two days ago it made another kill in the same place, butt it instantly flew off to eat it in the front yard. I know this was not a very pretty post, butt we bird lovers do understand that this is part of the cycle of life.
