On our way back to Sarge's House... from Edinboro Lake... we saw THIS place... It is a PHEASANT FARM.... run by the State of Pencil Vane E Ya. See the birds???
They sell the birds to Hunting Clubs and also release them into the wild...... They have to put NETS over the top... 1. to keep them in..2 to keep OWLS and other raptors from getting the birds.
In the center of each of these "PENS" they plant CORN... fur 1. food fur the pheasants 2. to provide NATURAL Cover and pawtection during the cold winter.
The pens are very much LONG and Narrow... and are on BOTH Sides of the Road...
Those BELL looking thingys are another place the Pheasants can go fur Shelter... and to eat...
We liked seeing all those birds... butt we would have liked to try and catch one...
THESE look like they are OUTSIDE the safe pens... butt they really aren't the netting just did not show up in this picture.
We would have liked to have tried PHEASANT under Glass... Or Netting... butt the Fun Pawlice said NO BOYS... you can NOT have any.

When the peeps went walkies in the woods one time, they stumbled across a pheasant pen. Previous paws was very interested until a chick pecked her nose! Serves her right for sniffing through the wire I say

I had no clue that you have farms for this birds. but it's great that they protect the species that way too. I've got a pheasant once from a hunter... and I have to admit that it was NOT tasty. It was a prehistoric guy (the pheasant, the hunter was a bit younger),probably not shot by thehunter, but died of old age.
Wow! Can you imagine being able to run around inside those fences?
Wow, what sport. Blasting a domesticated pheasant that just came up to say "Hi".
OMC.....a fev-ver farm!!!! Yum....um...we mean...how nice :)

We saw a rooster pheasant just yesterday on our property. He was handsome. there are big willow bushes along our side of a big irrigation canal and they like to hang out there. Last year we had some that wintered there - it is outside of our fenced area on the other side of our driveway so we don't get to bother them.

No pheasant, no fun.
I'm not the pheasant plucker but the pheasant plucker's son and I'm only plucking pheasants until the pheasant plucker comes.... SHE can say that quickly without mistakes!
We'd love to chase pheasants.
Don't feel bad. Birds are rather boring. Focus more on catching critters, they are more fun!
Chloe would have been chasing them for sure! Last year I had to run after her as she was chasing a herd of turkeys! She is crazy! Mope you had a good vacation!
We too would love to go on a pheasant chase and then have a wonderfully tasty meal:)
You did so much on your vacay!!!
