Cookie Recipe Exchange...

Our Furend      TAFFY    told us about this cool drool thingy...    she said that Today was the day to have a Favorite Holiday Cookie Recipe Exchange...

NOT this kind....

THESE are NOT HOME BAKED...      PLUS they are EVIL...    Surely you didn't think you would get off without seeing SnowFreaks did you????
So here are two of our Family FAVORITES....
All of Mom's recipes came from WAY BACK ... before Parchment Paper or Silicone or Silpat...   so if you are using THOSE things...  you do NOT need to grease or Spray...

Cornmeal Cookies  ....     (MOM's GREAT- GRANDMOTHER's Recipe     It is Well OVER 100 years old! )
         350°    15 mins.    Greased Sheets

3/4 cup Margarine  ( softened)
3/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup all purpose Flour
1/2  cup YELLOW Cornmeal
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
(Note:   Our Mom can not remember a Christmas without a Batch of these.  It was the ONLY time of the year she ever got them... UNTIL she was old enough to bake them herself. )
                 **********************************************************

Anise Bits
       350°    6 to 8  mins.      Greased Sheets

3 Eggs
2 Cups White Sugar
BEAT THESE for a FULL  15 mins. on Med. Speed
THEN.. add
2 3/4 Cups All purpose Flour
1 Teaspoon Anise Flavoring
      DASH of Salt
MIX WELL...
Then on a Floured surface form 1/2 inch diameter ROPES...    Put Ropes on Sheets and
CHILL for 1 hour           cut Ropes on 1/2" pieces and put them on Sheets... NOT TOUCHING...
Cool Completely   and then STORE in a SEPERATE Container/Bags...   from any OTHER cookies..  They do have a flavor that can be absorbed by other goodies.

Mom's Granny made those anise bits every year, it was a christmas ritual that they all had to wait till christmas eve before they ate it. I will try the 100 years old recipe that sounds yummy, many thanks!

YUM....Now how do I gets my Mom to stop unpacking storage boxes and re-packing storage boxes for more storage and get her into the kitchen???? I'd even settle for one of those snow freaks just so I can have a cookie. :(

Yummsicles and more yumsicles! Mommy is crazy for anise(one time she made some for human Sisters school when she was young and she told everyone that her Mommy made "anus" cookies. That was how she pronounce it. Mommy crawled in a hole lol). I promise not to make any cookies that look like snowfreaks
