End of Summer

This is a milkweed caterpillar.
My mom LOVES these thingys. They look kinda scary beclaws it LOOKS like they have sticky HORNS, butt they are really just pretend.
They eat and eat and eat.. and poop. THEN ....

they hang upside down and.... slide off their pretty white yellow and black skin.. REALLY. And under that they have formed a chrysalis... not a cocoon. When they finish that phase... they emerge and POOF... they become a beautiful Orange and Black MONARCH BUTTERFLY.
Our Monarch butterflies will now be flying... clear to Florida for the winter.
PeeS... If you have NOT gotten your ... I'm Like Mango entry in... you had better RUN and do it NOW!!! Today is your LAST... LAST CHANCE!!!! Be there or be square.

Mom says they usually catch one of those at her school and then watch it make it's chrysalis and then let it go to Mexico after it's done, but this year they found one that looks a little differnt. It turned out to be a Swallowtail and they say it won't emerge for almost a year! BOL! So now Mom's stuck with the stinky caterpillar aquarium for almost a year!
