Chew Mail Pouch

Well now ladies and gents...   I suppose I could start this post by saying that it is dedicated to that most Red Neck of Red Necks....   Puddles Duddles  BrainStrain....  BUTT, I won't.
I took this pic of the lead story in our little County (once weekly) newspaper.
I will be paraphrasing the paper for the remainder of this post.
The barn is in Perry Co..   I actually know right where it is.   that family has owned it for over 120 years and for 80 of them... the barn has sported a paint job that is a true Icon.
Mail Pouch Chewing tobacco of West VA, painted barns for advertisement from 1890 until 1992.    There were over 20,000 of them spread over 22 states.    Today many of these barns are listed asd National Historic Landmarks.
The Snider family recently had a new roof put on their barn and decided to have it re-painted.   At their own expense!!!
More Barn Crap!
(well, darn it this is my blog and I like that word)
To celebrate Ohio's 200th. year of statehood one barn in each of the 88 counties was chosen to be painted with Ohio's Bi-Centennial Logo.      It took a couple of years, butt my mom has actually traveled to see over 70 of them.    I wonder about her sometimes.
If you are interested you can go to this web site to learn more about Ohio barns.
PeeS    I pre-posted this Yesterday... beclaws... we were supposed to get lots of nasty storms that may last until This morning late...     soooooo if I don't get your comments or make comments or get your emails or...  WHATEVER... that will be why... no internets for me when it is really cloudy...

Oh, we've seen some of those barns! They're really cool! Not too far from here there's a county with a lot of historic barns, even a round one. They have a barn tour every year, and Mom promises that someday we'll get to go on it!

We have barns like that here too, except all of ours have that boring "See Rock City" painted on them. It's a theme park of nothing but rocks!!!

Oh, that's a shame that they need to paint that over. It's so cool. I never see barns. There used to be farms here, so I'm told, but there aren't many anymore. Even the potato farms out east are mostly vineyards now, which are kind of farms I guess. But not.

Hey Frankie...This is very much interesting to my mom because she thinks she was switched at birth and was supposed to marry a rancher (like Ree Drummond who writes a blog called The Pioneer Woman) and have a big red barn but instead she's living in a 2 bedroom apartment with a dog-walker fiance', etc, etc. I will have my mom check out the website and then maybe she'll move in with your mom so she can visit the 71st barn with her. Okeedokee?

Pee S...My mom is going to make the bachelor party invitation as soon as pawsible (in a few hours or before she hits the hay tonight)!

That was Most Interesting. But I'm pretty sure my mailman would be mad if I chewed his mail pouch. Why can humans do it and not doggies?

Interesting article.

There's a house just down the street from me that has what looks like a great big barn in the back yard. I don't know the people who live there but I've always wanted to introduce myself to them and take a look back there!

My little sister has made several pictures of me! I will see if Mama can scan them and put them up on my bloggie!

Hey Cousin Frankie! Great stuff. Barns look like lots of fun. I'm sure they would need patrolled and cleaned up from all the vermin living in them. Lots of fun in this post.
