Cry us a RIVER......

Our Dad.... AKA Ol'Sure Shot...  recently Harvested his crop of ONIONS...   they had to go to the Wood Shed... to Dry out fur like 87 days...  and then they were ready to be Cut and Chopped and stuffs...
Step #1.   Haul BUCKET ....

after BUCKET of the onions from the wood shed to the Kitchen...
Step #2...   Dad Peels and Washes them...  and MOM starts Cutting them in half and Chopping them...
(NOTE:  While all this was going on... WE were out doing our hard Garden Patrol work. Just sayin.)
Step #3    Put Chopped onions in the big Pan...
Step #4....   Put the Red ... help to hold the bag open thingy... into the bag... and mom shovels the chopped onions in...
She uses GALLON sized freezer bags...
There were  10 bags of onions... ready to go into the Freezer for Winter...   and while the kitchen was already a MESS   mom also chopped up some MORE green peppers to freeze...
We are getting ready fur the long winter... EATING...     baaaaWaaaah.

you can use iving goggles for chopping that tear gas-veggies... I have no clue if it helps, but I'm sure it looks funny

EEEEEKKKKK - I hope, Frankie and you, Ernie, don't get to eat the onions??? Else it'll be more than watery eyes... Just sayin'.

Helping harvest is okay though. Very industrious of you. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

My goodness what a wonderful idea! Well not the crying part but the chopping and freezing part :-) I sometimes cringe as I spend $2 on pre-chopped onions but it's so much easier! Maybe next time I'll suffer through a crying session and chop them all at once to freeze :-)

Thats is a lot of chopping!
Your Dad is a good man to grow all the stuff he does. Lot's of hard work.
it all pays off in the end. Yummy.
Have a Great Day.

We didn't know you could freeze onions like that! I hope you doggies didn't eat any. My humans are careful not to put onion peels and scraps in the compost bucket because Joey dog will steal them and eat them. Onions are not good for doggies, even though they taste delicious.

This is wonderful, you know how much I just love to hear about your garden and its bountiful crop, what a load of onions, that is crazy, it's great that your pawrents chop them up and freeze them, will they use them in yummy Soups and Stews? Casserole? Burgers? Meat Loaf? Do you ever use onions to make your own relish?? Please comment on my blog and let me know, I'm very interested in it all! You will have a winter filled with the most glorious foods from your garden! Great job taking care of the remainingcrops and plants while the Pawrents got on with the onion work, did they cry with all those onions being chopped up? Love and licks from your furiend Frank XxxxxxxxX
