Thankful Thinkin...

Say something NICE to a VETERAN today...

Okey Dokey... here is the deal.... Fur your Thanksgiving Post(s)... I'm thinkin of doing them all together in ONE POST... We are gonna do BOTH thingys. Thank You MINNA KREBS fur wanting to do this. She is gonna hostess the Thanksgiving Gotcha / Adoption stories and I (Frankie Furter) amd gonna host the ... What I want to Buy my Mom & (or) Dad fur Christmas... and WHY... thingy. THIS will be a HOOOOOOGE HOOT!!!
The adoption stories will knock your collars off, let me tell you.
I am hoping that the Parent Pressie thingy will be Fun and yet Thoughtful. I mean look at one of the thingys I am wanting to get for my dad... Practical Pressie if there ever was one... BeanO is Just what he needs... Christmas Ham and Broccoli at the same meal??? yuck!
Now with the Parent Pressie thingy... you don't need to settle for just One or Two... perfect gifts.. I mean you can really Shop til you Drop on this one... After all it is just your LIST... not Everything you think of HAS to be bought. hehehe Creative Gifts are the bestest of all you know.
<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now then this is my gifty to YOU... it is my mom's favoritest and bestest PIE CRUST RECIPE
She says you can run over this one with a Mac Truck and still be able to eat it... NOT like the ones she USED to make... We are STILL using those for stepping stones in the yard.

4 1/2 cups all purpose WHITE flour
2 tsp. Salt
4 tsp. Sugar
1 3/4 Cup Shortening Put in large bowl and use MIXER to blend until crumbly
Add: 1 egg 1 Tablespoon white vinegar and 1/2 cup water.
MIX with the MIXER...
My mom has a KitchenAid Stand mixer.. she does it with that, butt a hand mixer will work. DON'T worry... you won't hurt the dough. Mom mixes it on #3 for about 3 mins. it will take a tiny bit longer with a hand mixer.

once it is all in a big GLOB... dump it out and divide it into two Globs. Each Glob will make a DOUBLE CRUST PIE OR... two (2) single crust ones. NOW... wrap each glob in Saran Wrap/Plastic Wrap stuff and put them in a zipper bag and ... throw them in the freezer!! YEP you heard me right. They CAN be used fresh butt are much better if they have been frozen for at least 24 hours. They will keep in the freezer for up to a year! hahaha AS IF...
when you want a pie(s) take out a glob and let it thaw... NOT unwrapped. It usually takes an hour. While that is thawing you can get the filling ready.
(Now sometimes mom makes 4 globs so that she can do just one pumpkin or (Puddles' Favorite PeeCan). That way she still has 3 globs frozen for another day.
Bake at 400 degrees 45-55 mins.. Or as Your recipe tells you. My mom never uses recipes for anything except the crust. heheehe We call them her Surprise Pies.. you never know how they will taste. BOL BaaaaWaaaah.
Butt the ONE thingy you CAN count on is that this Crust recipe WILL work and you can't mess it up... unless you don't measure right... which mom did do once. Hoooooowwwwwllll was that one ever funny. She has not made that mistake in 3 years.
NOW THEN... my favorite is Milkbone Custard pie... butt she hardly every makes that one.
OK.... you are now OFFICIALLY READY FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON
1. Get your Adoption Story ready to post on T-Day
2. Get your Parent Pressie (And WHY) list ready to post on T-Day
3. Get your mom to get the crusts made and in the freezer.. Maybe she will make a PeeCan or Milkbone Custard for you. If not... Pumpkin or Apple will work too. We can have BOTH of those.
PeeS..... be sure to tell ALL of your furends about #'s 1 & 2 above... EVERYBUDDY is welcome to play!!!!! The MORE the Merrier... and I ought to know about the merrier thingy.. I'm married up with TWO gorgeous gals.
Now for the mostest Special PeeCan pie recipe... go see Puddles.

I am SO excited about both of these Thanksgiving events! Oh, and please do not encourage my mom to bake. She has many skills, but baking is not one of them ... don't even get me started on some of the baking adventures we have had around here - it is not pretty, trust me!

Our Mom uses her old standby recipe from Better Homes and Gardens, but she think she might have to try this, it would be awesome to have the crust done ahead of time. It takes a long time to make an apple pie from scratch, but would work much better in stages. Thanks for the great idea.

Bean-O would be a great giftie for your dad, with his butt-barkers and all. I'm going to have to start thinking about giftie ideas for my mom and dad.

Mom is definitely too lazy, um, busy ;) to make that crust. Our pies come already put together. Your Mom sounds like she's very talented in the kitchen - ours not so much.

We're betting the Thanksgiving Day posts will be out of control! In a good way :)

I'm lazy -- I prefer to just buy a premade pie crust! Actually, I've never made a pie. But if I were going to, that's what I'd do.
