Pottery... Lessons...

Remember when we told you that Cussin Francine decided that Ernestine and Ernie needed to learn about CLAY and Pottery and stuffs  since it is pawt of this region's History?

Ernie thought that he would rather got to ANOTHER BASEBALL GAME... butt Francine said NO... the young'uns needed some CULTURE ...    after all we did just all come back from that nice Ski Resort Vacation...    NO SPORTS this time...
SO off we went to learn about POTTERY and CLAY and How Pots are THROWN...     That is not like throwing a Ball though....  we learned that INSTANTLY...   it is a Term that POTTERS use to refer to how they FORM the soft CLAY into a Pot or bowl or jug or mug...    by making it SPIN really FAST on a Potter's Wheel.      There are TWO kinds of potter's Wheels...   KICK Wheels   which are actually spun by pushing a BIG HEAVY Stone base... that TURNS the Clay at the top...    TURNING is another Word to describe the act of Throwing a Pot...     BUTT fortunately we got to use MODERN ELECTRIC WHEELS... beclaws our legs would never have reached way down there to KICK the WHEEL.      Here we are looking at all the stuffs a POTTER needs to THROW or TURN a Pot...  The master Potter was telling us all about the HISTORY and stuffs like that..
THEN   after the clay was WEDGED... to remove all the Air Bubbles ...   and then was CENTERED on the WHEEL...   the POTTER showed us how to OPEN the POT UP...       It was actually sorta Fascinating.
THEN it was Francine and Ernestine's TURN to try their Paws at it.    Of course Cussin FRANCINE was all    EWWWWWWWWW   it is ICKY...   Don't get that Clay all over your furs Ernestine...   Let ME do it...        Naturally Francine was a NATURAL...    Look at the VASE she Threw.   She says that once it is dry and Glazed and Fired in the kiln... she wants to use it to put some Milkbone Bush Limbs in...   Since they dry so nice...       She was going ON and ON about how ARTISTICALLY she would be able to Arrange them...      and how EXQUISITE they will look in her FOYER .
Ernestine and Ernie are ALREADY planning to pick all the MILKBONES Off... as soon as Cussin Francine turns her back.

We will have more of this EDUCATION ADVENTURE ....    Gird your loins..

PeeS...      We are getting ICE and SNOW... LOTS of it... so we may not be around...
YUCK...       YUCK              HURRY SPRING...     Hurry   PLEASE.

I knew I heard the love theme from ghost in Blogville, turns out it was you guys at the potters wheel!
Mum said that she made a castle out of clay once and really enjoyed it but it looks real messy and I would not want to get that muddy looking stuff stuck all in my furs!
Keep warm guys, keep your eye on those milk bones! BOL!

that is something the mom has always wanted to do but she knows if she tried she would be hooked and the house would be full of pretty things that never get used. We got 4 inches of sleet and 2 inches of snow last night too

That's great! You can play with mud and at the end you will get a fabulous bowl or a pot. btw: I could need a bigger bowl, so if you have time? maybe bathtub-sized? Have a warm and comfy monday

Francine did an excellent job on that vase.

That was a very good lesson. We thought we could hear the song playing in the background that was played in the movie "Ghost", "Unchained Melody". Wait, is that Patrick Swayze behind you??

Our mom has a weakness for pottery. Not quite as bad as your mom and the s-n-o-w-m-e-n ... but pretty bad.
